 AVM Anthony Okpere , who fielded questions from newsmen after the meeting, said the consultation was on the instruction of the Esan solidarity forum leadership. He further stated as follows:👇

“As you know, there are many significant security concerns all over Esanland and there are concerns also in Esan land.

“So, I am here on the instruction of the Esan Solidarity forum leadership to consult with the traditional rulers and others on what to do to beef up security and to generally improve the security architecture of our land.

“Of course, you know that the Onogies is not just a traditional rulers but also an integral part of the security architecture of Esan land. Without the support and cooperation of the Inijies ( monarchs) much cannot be achieved in security in Esanland.

“So, that is why we are here; to talk to the Onogies and agree on few modalities for beefing up support for Esan solidarity Security outfit and for ensuring that we are fully conscious of all that is going on and rein in criminal elements have run amok and gone bananas over the security lapses across Esanland .

“I think for all of us, the most important thing to realise is that we are one Esan ; we are one tribe; we need to work together to ensure that Esan land is peaceful and we'll secured for all of us and our children. 

We want our children all over the country and across the world to fell free to visit their acestral home, ”

however, said that some of our people are working against the interest of our *Atanakpan* by attempting to cause arnachy and instability.

He expressed optimism that Esan land would overcome all its problems and security challenges and sets itself on the part of peace and prosperity in no distant time.

Speaking with newsmen afterwards through telephone conversation, former speaker and former deputy speaker of Edo State House of Assembly (what a grace) - Rt. Hon(Dr) Justin Okonoboh said that the Inijies constitutes the most important voices in the Esanland .

He further stated that the consultant with Onogies of Esanland at Igueben was on the important steps to take to help improve the security architecture generally through the Esan Solidarity security outfit .

According to him, the monarchs has given a lot of insights on things that have been done and things to be done and how to go about consolidating on them.

“Of most importance to us is his commitment to ensuring that there is peace and security and that everybody lives in peace with one another and that we maintain the highest level of security.

Our BOT Chairman Esan Solidarity Forum,AVM Anthony Okpere has spoken about the role of traditional rulers in maintaining peace and security in their localities.

As we know, they are the closest to the grassroots, the closest to their communities and one of the critical things we expect from our community policing efforts is some integration between the traditional rulers, the community police and some other efforts they are making to improve intelligence first of all because we need to understand what is going on.

We need to know who is where and what exactly is happening all around so that they can then be transmitted to the more formal security agencies–the police, the army-depending on where we are and what the situation is".

It is believed that once the consultation with critical stakeholders is rounded off across Esan land, the spectre of insecurity will be tackled headlong with mismerizing alacrity and precision.
